I have been working in this business for 10 years.  As I journey with my clients I am seeing more complex estates and diverse families. I am a CEA advisor so that I can assist others to navigate some of these complex issues.

The focus is on objective, comprehensive thinking in collaboration with other professionals to create a benchmark for wealth preservation and growth. Financial planning engagements are independent of any product incentives or referral fees.

Kelly has an Honours BBA and is an Associate of the Institute of
Canadian Bankers, Affiliate of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a
Certified Financial Planner, and received the distinction of Fellow of FP
Canada in 2015. He has over 25 years of financial industry experience.

His academic knowledge has been complimented by supporting business
bankers, junior advisors and being an estate specialist for an Ontario Credit Union for  over  17
years. His volunteer work with FP Canada and
FP Canada Institute since 2008 has included: 
the Examinations Committee, the Book of Knowledge Committee, the Professional Disciplinary Panel, the Awards and Recognition
Committee, an initial instructor for the Professional Education Program, and
serving on multiple National research panels that have explored such questions as; Inhibitors to
Financial Plan Implementation, Technology and
it’s effect on Financial Planning, CPP Decision Model, and
recently the RSP Drawdown Model.

I am a lawyer practicing in Wills and Estate Planning and Administration based in Dartmouth, NS. I help clients explore various estate planning strategies and assist them with preparing a tailored estate plan, which includes drafting wills, an enduring power of attorney, personal directives (living wills) and establishing trusts. 

Insurance subject matter expert providing ongoing wealth transfer advice on complex insurance strategies to Branches in Western Canada and their high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.

Offering strategic insurance solutions for high-net-worth clients in a variety of planning areas including intergenerational wealth transfer, equalization of estate interests, philanthropic planning, corporate wealth transfer and domestic tax planning.

The role of Executor is often thought
of as a position of “honour".  Most
people who accept the role of Executor do so without fully comprehending what
will be required of them.  Being appointed as an Executor of a Will has a
great deal of responsibility.  It is a fiduciary duty and there is
considerable personal liability associated with it.  As a Certified Executor Advisor, my job is to
set the Executor up for success by providing them with a roadmap for their
future role, as well as, working with the Testator to make sure his/her wishes
are understood.  By working together, the
Executor has the direction and the information required to fulfill the final
wishes of the Testator and will significantly reduce the time and risk associated with performing these duties. 
No one wants their Executor to fail.  Working together and planning
ahead goes a long way in setting up the Executor to succeed.  That is best
way to ensure that this role is truly an "honour".

Rick is a life insurance and living benefits specialist.  In 30 years of business - interesting stuff has happened with his client's businesses, their family members and their employees as they face the life's events.

As a Certified Executor Advisor, Rick is honoured to hold the hand of the person, that his client has appointed as their Executor.  Most people do not do the activities of an Executor on a daily basis and they are called to duty at a highly emotional time.

Rick takes a unique approach in his practice.  When there is harmony in the family prior to a loss, he wants that harmony to continue when the unexpected happens, by facilitating family and business discussions about the inevitable, well before the Executor needs to act.
