Elaine holds financial planning and investment management designations which, along with specialist designations, give her a well-rounded perspective to coach her clients through the Estate planning process, as well as separation and divorce both financially and emotionally.
Realizing a growing need to assist female clients with life-changing events such as widowhood and divorce, Elaine attained the Certified Senior Advisor and Chartered Divorce Specialist designations. To further support her clients, she went on to complete collaborative training accreditation as well.
Elaine’s personal commitment to lifelong education led her to study and achieve the (CEA) Certified Executor Advisor designation which beautifully married her unique counseling skill with the unique needs of her clients.
With over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, I have been actively engaged in fostering strong client relationships and helping clients achieve their personal financial goals.
My commitment to continuous education has earned me the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation conferred by the Financial Planning Standards Council.
I look forward to exploring investment strategies and solutions with you as we work together towards your unique financial goals.
I am an independent, certified financial planner since 1992. I was a public accountant (chartered accountant) prior to moving into personal financial planning.
I have earned the following designations: Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), formerly CA, Certified Executor Advisor (CEA). I attended U of T and have a BA in Economics.
I understand how most of the pieces fit together and how priorities change through a person's life. I can look at people's situations and help identify and prioritize needed improvements. I prepare personal financial statements to help people understand their whole situation, how the different part work and what should be prioritized. I often say my job is to stick my nose in other people's business and tell them what to do!
My main source of income is from advisory and trailer fees from mutual funds. (I do not charge sales commissions). I am also a licensed life insurance agent and prepare personal tax returns for clients (including final returns). I also have a US CPA designation but do not do US work. I have a broad range of knowledge and contacts.
I am a board member of the JCCC Foundation and former treasurer & board member of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. This has helped me gain familiarity with foundations and charitable giving.
The Certified Executor Advisor (CEA) is my most recent designation. I see it as a way of showing my clients that I can help them if they find themselves appointed as an executor. I can review wills to help identify things to do and questions to ask to make the executor job easier when the person is still alive. (example - what's your password? Where are all of your accounts?)
I have a home office in Whitby, but serve clients within the GTA (or a couple hours drive). I am relatively low key, everything I do is confidential, I work by myself and hopefully easy to work with.
Thank you for your time!

Some clients have complex estate planning situations due to their unique circumstances. This course has given me the tools to better assist executors to understand their role and responsibility when this duty comes into effect. It also highlights the areas I can better advise on strategies to consider (i.e. financial plans to pay less taxes and lower probate fees, just to name a few) while the testator is still alive.
Consider working with a certified financial planner, CFP who has their Certified Executor Advisor, CEA, accreditation. The CFPs six-step financial planning framework combined with a CEAs training can be a blueprint for success.
