Who Should Register

Executors may turn to as many as 17 different professions in the course of their duties, any of which can benefit from the CEA Designation program. 

As the first person executors will seek for general guidance, Certified Executor Advisors should have expertise in one or more of these areas and have a practical level of knowledge of all areas: which they will acquire by taking the CEA Designation program. They should also have a network of experts in each of the other disciplines, which they can build using the ‘Find A CEA’ directory. 

Those working in the following professions and interested in working with executors and/or testators are the ideal candidates who should register for the CEA Designation program:





The CEA Designation is designed to provide applicants with valuable practical knowledge in all of the disciplines required to advise an executor / executrix. The full on-line curriculum consists of 54 chapters divided into 7 convenient modules. The time required varies with each module but the full program should take no more than 30 hours. There is one exam of 50 multiple choice questions with a passing grade of 70%. Two exam attempts are included in the course fee.

The CEA Designation course has been awarded continuing education  
credits from the following Institutions:

Institute – Certified (Advocis) for 30 hours

FPSC – Accredited for 30 hours (25 Financial Planning and 5 Practice Management)

CAAMP accredited for 8 AMP CE units in the professional development category


For CPA and other accounting CE, 30 is recommended


RIBO Credits are pending


IQPF accredited for 15 professional development units (PDUs)







Successful completion of this exam (70% grade or higher) will automatically trigger the following four actions:

1) your information is automatically sent to our print shop and your diploma will be delivered
within approximately ten business days
2) you will receive an email containing your CE Certificate for your records
3) you are able to write your own profile, when logged in, under 'My Account' (top right)
for our national 'Find A CEA Directory' and
4) you are immediately authorized to use the CEA Designation as a member.
